Before receiving their grant, the awarded collaborations are required to develop and commit to a memorandum of understanding between the collaboration's lead artist and the collaborating organization. Letters of inquiry are read by community readers and scored using a shared tool. After discussion of all the reader reviews, 40-50 collaborations are selected and invited to submit full proposals based on their letters of inquiry.

A community panel convenes to read and discuss the full proposals, study work samples, and use a shared ranking system to arrive at 12-15 grant recommendations. The panel forwards the grant recommendations to the collaborating funders, who then convene to review and give final approval to the grant awards.

Creative Work Fund applications are accepted online from February 5 - April 2, 2024.

Applications are checked for completeness and eligibility before being assigned to readers.
