CounterPulse announces that Daughters of a Riot by Mica Sigourney, and restaged performance pieces from Clement Hil Goldberg‘s Our Future End are featured in its inaugural five-day festival of performance, conversation and radical celebration, running March 14 through 18. The festival kicks off on the 14th with a gallery reception of Jon-Levy Warren‘s work at Artspan. Mica Sigourney’s commemoration of the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot — a queer drag spectacle — follows March 14 at 8 p.m. at CounterPulse. Sigourney’s , piece, which was developed with Creative Work Fund support in collaboration with the Queer Cultural Center, also may be seen on March 15 at 8:30.
On Saturday, March 17, CounterPulse presents Epilogue for Our Future Ends in a dance party and performance with new and re-staged selections from Clement Hil Goldberg’s multimedia work at The Stud. Our Future Ends, developed in collaboration with CounterPulse, is a satire about near extinct lemurs and long lost Lemuria, featuring animated film along with live music and dance.
