Artists and nonprofit organizations are warmly invited to two different opportunities to learn about programs supporting new art works and artists’ commissions on September 12 and 13, 2017.
On Tuesday, September 12, 3:00-4:30 p.m. in San Francisco, the Foundation Center is hosting a free presentation by Frances Phillips about the Creative Work Fund, its 2017-18 funding round, and tips for applicants. Participants are urged to register through the Foundation Center’s Grantspace website. This event is close to being filled to capacity, and will be live streamed to accommodate those who cannot attend in person.
On Wednesday, September 13, at 1:30 p.m., at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, representatives of the East Bay Community Foundation, Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and Walter & Elise Haas Fund are presenting information about their programs that are devoted to commissioning or supporting new works by artists. Featured programs will be the Creative Work Fund, East Bay Fund for Artists, Wallace Alexander Gerbode Special Awards in the Arts, and Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions. Interested participants are urged to register by choosing the September 13 date from the pull-down menu.
Future workshops with multiple funders are coming to the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (September 19 at 2:30 p.m.), and the James Irvine Conference Center at the East Bay Community Foundation in Oakland (September 27 at 9:30 a.m.); along with Webinars for potential applicants on September 25 at 6 p.m. and October 10 at noon.
