Drawing on her Ivory Coast heritage, multidisciplinary artist Fely Tchaco has collaborated with Diamano Coura West African Dance to create The Legend of Zaouli, based on the true story of the life of a beautiful dancer and her untimely death. World premiere performances are September 25, 2021, 4 p.m., at the Bayview Opera House in San Francisco (tickets are available) and on September 26, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the Lake Merritt Amphitheater in Oakland.
The performance will feature choreography and musical compositions by Fely Tchaco, guest drummer Djo Bi Irie Simon and accompaniment by the drummers of Diamano Coura West African Dance.
