Lead artist Erin McElroy and her collaborators at the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project and Tenants Together are kicking off their project, which is mapping evictions in Alameda County during the current escalation of rents and real estate in the greater Bay Area. The collaborators are mapping locations evictions have occurred and collecting stories from those who have been displaced. They are interested in both hearing brief presentations (2-5 minutes each) from guests at the kick-off and in sharing information about the project. The January 21, 2016 event begins at 7 p.m. at the Octopus Literary Salon in Oakland. The artists urge those who are interested to attend and to share this announcement with their networks.
