Collaborating with animated filmmaker Dionisio Ceballos, Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center (specifically visual artist Marie-Astrid Do-Rodriguez, youth taking courses at the center, and musician/writer Eugene Rodriguez) have released the seven-minute animated film “Tata’s Gift” in honor of Dia de los Muertos. “Tata’s Gift” merges digital technology with indigenous Mexican textiles, video game imagery, and original music to tell the story of a young boy finding personal strength through family and heritage.
