On Saturday, December 12, at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park Visitor’s Center in San Francisco, Calvin Fong, son of Richmond Shrimp Camp owner Fong Wan, and archaeologist Mike Taggart, who worked on the excavation of the former shrimp camp site at Pt. Molate, will join artist Rene Yung in conversation about the Bay Area’s rich, and largely overlooked, Chinese shrimping industry. The conversation takes place at 1:30 p.m. in the context of Yung’s evocative multimedia installation “Chinese Whispers: Bay Chronicles.” Space is limited and guests should plan to arrive early.
