On Sunday, March 1, from 2-3:30 p.m., Arts Benicia is hosting a reception for Mark Brest Van Kempen’s Biolabyrinth Raingarden Project on Benicia’s Marina Green at the bottom of East Second Street. The reception will include a nature walk with the artist.
The Biolabyrinth Raingarden is a temporary land art installation on the Benicia Waterfront that will demonstrate the effect of natural bio-filtration on non-point source pollution. It is part of an 18-month collaborative effort between Arts Benicia and environmental artist Mark Brest Van Kempen. The artist and Arts Benicia have been working together to influence the Benicia Waterfront Project to integrate engaging public art in to plans for the site’s development. More information may be found at the project blog.
