On November 9, Laurie Coyle’s Adios Amor: The Search for Maria Moreno, will be screened at 7:00 p.m. at 127A Tucker, University of California, Riverside. The screening is sponsored by the Departments of Anthropology, Film Studies, History, and Modern Languages. The filmmaker will be present for a discussion with Mujeres Lideres Campesinas. In Adios Amor, the discovery of forgotten pohotographs prompted a search for an unsung heroine–Maria Moreno, a tenacious woman who sacrificed everything but her 12 children to organize California’s migrant farmworkers 50 years ago. Coyle collaborated with young leaders at the Chicana Latina Foundation in her research for the film.
A second screening is scheduled on November 14 at noon at Riverside City College Digital Library Auditorium.
