Composer Alexandrea Archuleta, in collaboration with Vital Arts will create a new community-engaged multidisciplinary sound work, The Ghost Ship Symphony. The project develops through a two-year process engaging the Vital Arts community of artists and activists to create a series of collaborative artistic installations/actions culminating in December 2026 with a full-length symphonic/operatic work commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Ghost Ship fire. The Ghost Ship Symphony is a performance as well as a process for utilizing art to support engagement activities for Vital Arts’ Bay Area Artist Census – a three-year data gathering initiative to provide stakeholders with evidence-based approaches on how to support a thriving, resilient, creative workforce.
