Planting Justice and lead artist Kate DeCiccio, with collaborating artists Hiroyo Kaneko, and Malaya Tuyay are collaborating to create Portraits of Rerooting in Transformative Community, a body of artwork: neighborhood portraits, online story library, zine and large-scale installation, to accompany a new neighborhood orchard in Sobrante Park, where Planting Justice has established programs that engage youth and adults impacted by mass incarceration and other social inequities with the skills and resources to cultivate food sovereignty, economic justice, and community healing.
