Meet Us Quickly With Your Mercy, developed through a collaboration between Jo Kreiter and the Museum of the African Diaspora, is premiering October 14-17, 2021 (Thursday though Sunday, 7PM & 8:30PM + Saturday, 5PM matinee) at CounterPulse. Admission is free, but the audience size is limited for health safety reasons: You’ll want to reserve your tickets to these free outdoor performances now!
This new work addresses the devastating effects of mass incarceration on individuals and communities. It is part two of Flyaway Productions’ Decarceration Trilogy: Dismantling the Prison Industrial Complex One Dance at a Time.
In conjunction with the performances, Museum of the African Diaspora is presenting the exhibit Meet Us Quickly: Painting for Justice from Prison, an exhibition of the work of 12 artists incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison. The 21 works in the exhibition were organized and curated by Prison Renaissance founder Raqhsaan “New York” Thomas. It may be viewed remotely here.
