On Tuesday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., City Arts and Lectures is featuring an onstage conversation with composer and sound artist Guillermo Galindo and photographer Richard Misrach at the Nourse theater in San Francisco. The project explores the landscape and human stories of the U.S. Mexico border through monumental images by Misrach and hand-crafted instruments by Galindo that are made from found objects recovered at the border. Alexis Madrigal will lead a conversation with the artists.
The evening also features an original piece created and performed by Galindo and vocalist Amy X Neuburg featuring instruments made from border items and projections of Misrach’s images. Tickets are available.
Border Cantos was developed through a collaboration among the artists and the San Jose Museum of Art. The exhibition is now on view at the museum through July 31, 2016.
