Rene Yung and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park invite guests to “Heritage of Hope: Immigrant Voices Then & Now,” an afternoon of storytelling and more in celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Horse. The program will take place February 8, 2-4 p.m., on board the historic Balclutha at Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco. The program is part of Chinese Whispers, Yung’s research and community storytelling project about the Chinese who helped to build the American West.
Rene Yung’s recently-awarded Creative Work Fund grant supports Chinese Whispers’ research into the 19th Century Chinese shrimping industry of the San Francisco Bay Area and continuing work with the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.
