Friends of Oakland Parks and Recreation is collaborating with Sue Mark and marksearch (Sue Mark and L. Bruce Douglas) on 10,000 Steps, a project designed to draw attention to four downtown Oakland parks: Lafayette, Madison, Jefferson and Lincoln Square. Following a year of park cleanups and community conversations, the artists are creating between 12 and 28 unique cast bronze sidewalk medallions to facilitate walking tours, 10,000 printed map-guides to the parks, a film, and a Web log.
