DIASPORADICA is an evening of three-hour long choreographic experiments shared in three acts: Kickback, Performance, and Function. This work is devised and performed by a collective of five queer Black emerging Bay Area performance artists called RUPTURE: jose e. abad, Styles Alexander, Gabriele Christian, Clarissa Dyas, and Stephanie Hewett in collaboration with Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture and created in site specific conversation with the history and architecture of the Pier 3 Festival Pavilion. This experimental process-based performance integrates contemporary dance, vertical dance, community engagement, sound production, installation, and ritual to blur the lines between Black sociality, spectatorship, and performance.
