Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) collaborating with Paul Flores to develop the stage play PLACAS, portraying a contemporary Central American narrative on stage. “Placas” is slang for graffiti tags or body tattoos, and, in street culture, placas signify an individual’s loyalty to a gang. Flores has interviewed gang members, parents, and intervention workers; and is refining the piece through community feedback sessions and work with director Michael John Garc?s.
