On Saturday, December 30, at 1 p.m., Teatro Visión is presenting a staged reading in English and Spanish of Evelina Fernández‘s Departera (working title) at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose. A Creative Work Fund traditional arts grant to Russell Rodriguez is contributing to the creation and recording of original music for this ambitious new work.
Teatro Visión and the artists have spent the last year gathering stories from San Jose friends and neighbors, and these community contributions have been incorporated into Departera (working title). At this staged reading, actors will read from scripts without scenery or costumes and, after the reading, the collaborators will ask for feedback to help with their continued refinement of the piece.
