Poets Denise Newman and Hazel White have been collaborating with the University of California at Berkeley’s Botanical Garden to create “Biotic Portal at Strawberry Creek: Language Experiments 1,” along with interactive events at the poets’ studio in the garden (pictured here); on social media; and along the garden creek.
The public is invited to a launch party on April 10, 4-7 p.m.. Join Newman and White in the Julia Morgan Building for an overview of their poetic reordering of the collection and a preview of what promises to be a humongous annotated index of biotic relations collected in collaboration with the garden staff and the public. As the sun goes down, take a walk with the poets and participate in data collection along the creek. This event is free, but reservations are strongly recommended as space is limited.
