On April 10 and 11 at 8 pm,  Half and Halves, which delves into the history of the Punjabi and Mexican communities  in California’s Imperial Valley, returns to the stage at the San Francisco’s Jewish Community Center. The project was created through a collaboration between Joti Singh and Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco, with artistic director Zenon Barron; and the title refers to the offspring of Punjabi-Mexican marriages, who faced a distinct type of racism due to their parents’ interracial/intercultural marriages. Joti Singh writes, “It is enlightening and disheartening to see how little has in 100 years in terms of race relations in this country. Bringing together our two companies and dance styles, Bhangra and Mexican Folkloric dance, is another example of art showing the world how it should be done and how we should treat each other.” Tickets are on sale.
