Inspired by true stories from witnesses of the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan, lead artist Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, Noorani Dance, and EnActe Arts are premiering The Parting, on January 19 at Z Space. Four performances (matinees and evenings) run through Sunday, January 21. The artist team developing the work also includes writer and director Salil Singh, story development assistant Anurag Wadehra, composer Raaginder Singh Momi, and visual designer David Murakami.
The collaborators offer this performance as a chance to reflect on a pivotal and tragic time in the history of South Asia and instigate conversations across generations, borders, genders, ethnicities, and religions. Tickets are available.
