Edward Willie’s Pomo Regalia on Display at Museum of the American Indian

Opening Friday, August 15, and on long-term display at the Museum of the American Indian in Novato, “Kay Key Ya” features traditional Pomo regalia painstakingly researched and created by Edward Willie over nearly three years. The works were created in a traditional manner–from gathering the feathers and plant materials to hand-sanding clam shell beads. Native Americans may borrow the regalia for use in dances and other ceremonies. When not in use, the pieces are on display in the museum’s upstairs gallery.
